It looks like Henry Cavill is preparing to land another meaty role in a massive fantasy project. The Justice League star is currently in negotiations to join the Highlander reboot that will be helmed by John Wick director Chad Stahelski.
Deadline reports that Cavill is in talks to take on one of the major roles in the new Highlander film. The role that Cavill is after has not yet been revealed but there are speculations that the Man of Steel star could take on the lead role in the project.
Not much is known about the Highlander film right now. However, it has been confirmed that the Lionsgate project will be produced by Neal H. Moritz and Josh Davis. Amanda Lewis, Patrick Wachsberger, and Gregory Widen will also serve as executive producers on the movie.
The original Highlander film was released in 1986 and it followed Connor McLeod (Christopher Lambert), a 16th century Scot who discovers he is immortal. With the help of the swordsman Ramirez (Sean Connery), McLeod learns about other immortals and how they fight for the Prize. When Kurgan (Clancy Brown) defeats Ramirez, it is up to McLeod to ensure that the Prize doesn't end up in the wrong hands.
For now, Cavill has yet to be officially confirmed for the Highlander reboot. In the meantime, fans can expect to see him in action in another fantasy project later this year. The Witcher Season 2 is expected to premiere on Netflix before the end of 2021.
