Hellboy Star Milla Jovovich Bashes Critics Saying Film Will Become Cult Classic

Hellboy just made its big premiere last weekend, and while many hoped for the film to do well, the reboot wasn't that well received by critics at all. Starting off at a measly 9% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes during its previews, the Neil Marshall reboot of Hellboy is now sitting at a lowly 15% mantle on the review aggregation site.

Responding to the disappointing reception, Hellboy's Nimue The Blood Queen actress Milla Jovovich has come to the film's defense, taking to Instagram to write a lengthy note to say that she isn't the least bit worried about Hellboy's critical performance. Placing Hellboy in the context of her Hollywood career, The Fifth Element and Resident Evil star reminds fans that most of the poorly-reviewed movies that she's been in ended up becoming fan favorites.

"All I'm going to bed is this: all my raddest films have been slammed by critics," Jovovich wrote on her Instagram post, "It's f**cking hilarious. Dazed and Confused? Seriously? Classic movie. The Fifth Element! You would have thought that was the worst movie ever made if you read the reviews in like '98. Zoolander? Slammed. Joan of Arc? Disaster. Resident Evil? Let's not even go there."

The actress then went on to declare that the Hellboy reboot would definitely go on to become a cult classic just like all the other films that were poorly received but eventually became fan-favorites as time went on.

"Anyway, every one of those films is now a cult classic. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. And this [Hellboy] will be too. Mark my words. Why? Because of the actors…They are all so damn wonderful and talented, the movie is worth seeing just because they're in it, especially one that's so much fun to experience as this is," Jovovich defended.

While there are fans who didn't really enjoy the blood and the gore of the Hellboy reboot, there are others who loved the campiness and the gratuitous violence of the movie.
