Hellboy Star David Harbour On How He Landed The Role In The First Place

Hellboy fans were pretty surprised when Millennium decided to reboot the franchise with David Harbour as the film's new Unwilling Harbinger of the Apocalypse. While most don't have anything against the Stranger Things star, fans were still holding on to the hopes of Hellboy 3 with Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman returning as director and star.

Now, speaking in an interview with JoBlo to help promote his upcoming film, Hellboy actor David Harbour opens up about what it was like to be cast s the lead for the series, especially since the offer came out of the blue.

"I got a call like almost completely randomly. We were shooting the second season of Stranger Things. I think it was very early in the shooting process," Harbour told the entertainment news outlet. "And I got a call from my agents just saying they want to remake Hellboy and they want you to be the new Hellboy and here's the script."

According to the actor, the decision was difficult to make because the film wasn't completely greenlit back then. When Harbour was called for the part, all the team had was the script.

"I read the script. So they sent it to me, and I was like, very confused and terrified at that prospect and excited. I mean, like who the f--- am I? You know what I mean?" the actor went on.

Harbour's excellent performance a Chief Hopper in Stranger Things was one of the main reasons why he was considered for the part, and a lot of the actor's fans rallied around him for Hellboy. Though the hard-core fans of the Big Red were pretty uncertain, many warmed up to Harbour after seeing his first-look images as Hellboy.

How about you? Do you think Harbour's a good fit for the role?

Hellboy is set for release on April 12, 2019.
