And so, we dive deeper into the Targaryen lore as HBO is reportedly creating another Game of Thrones spinoff, this time, focusing on Aegon’s conquest as Aegon the Conqueror. Seeing as HBO’s House of the Dragon garnered immense success on the streaming platform, plus with the possibility of the series ending soon, another spinoff would make sense for the franchise.
Variety reports that the executives at HBO are in talks of exploring Aegon I Targaryen’s conquering of Westeros. Although, it is worth mentioning that the project is still in its earliest stages with HBO in the process of finding their writers for the project, and the spinoff is also reportedly being considered as a feature film, instead of a whole series.
As of writing, no writers are currently attached to the series.
Aegon’s conquest is no stranger to any Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon fans, considering that the latter series takes place nearly 200 years before the original Game of Thrones series, and Aegon’s conquest prequel would then take place approximately 300 years before Game of Thrones.
It is important to take note though that none has been finalized yet, HBO has yet to comment on what part of Aegon’s conquest the spinoff would be exploring.

George RR. Martin’s best-selling series, Game of Thrones, has been an ongoing feat for the writer, pretty much similar to how HBO is at the moment. House of the Dragon has been reported to be coming to an end sooner than we thought, which makes sense in paving the way for more spinoffs to come to fruition.
House of the Dragon Season 2 will be containing lesser episodes as compared to the first season, which implies that House of the Dragon Season 3 might be the last before the series ends, as the third season has already been greenlit ahead of the second season’s debut.
