Hawkeye Star Hailee Steinfeld Reveals How COVID-19 Helped MCU Series

There is little doubt that COVID-19 has made it a difficult year for major productions throughout the year. However, Hailee Steinfeld has just revealed that the pandemic was actually helpful for the upcoming Hawkeye series.

Earlier last year, there were reports that Steinfeld had been cast as Kate Bishop in the Marvel Cinematic Universe show. However, the Pitch Perfect star was quick to deny the casting and there were no further claims since then. Amazingly, Marvel Studios confirmed that Steinfeld was in fact playing Kate in Hawkeye during Disney Investor Day in December and she told People that quarantining made it easy for her to keep the big secret.

"I guess in a way, it was kind of a blessing in disguise that I didn't and couldn't be around a lot of people, cause that was a hard one to keep to myself," Steinfeld admitted. "I am so honored to be a part of this family that is the MCU."

We're not exactly surprised that Steinfeld was looking for a way to stay quiet about the casting. After all, everybody knows that Marvel Studios prefer to keep their plans under wraps. Luckily for Steinfeld, she didn't have a hard time keeping the casting to herself.

In addition to introducing Steinfeld as Kate, Hawkeye will bring back Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton. The series will also star Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d'Arcy James, and Alaqua Cox. Although Hawkeye has not yet been given an official release date, it is expected to premiere on Disney+ in late 2021.
