Hawkeye: Kevin Feige was Nervous to Tell Jeremy Renner His Movie Turned into a Series

Despite Jeremy Renner's recent brush with scandal, Disney is choosing to push forward with his Hawkeye series. What's interesting is, the property was supposed to be a film, and it was Kevin Feige who had to break in the bad news to Renner.

According to Bloomberg, Feige was nervous to tell Renner that his solo film had been turned into a Disney+ show. They write, "Marvel had a deal for Renner to star in a movie based on the character, but Feige wanted to turn the project into a Disney+ series. Renner turned out to be fine with the change. ‘He totally got it and said, "Let's do it," ' Feige recalls."

If anything, I think the Hawkeye show isn't really focused on Clint Barton, but rather on his protégé Kate Bishop. I think this will be Hawkeye's way of passing the torch to his successor, seeing as he's deserved a well-earned break since Avengers: Endgame. If anything, Bishop will be the main player with Barton acting as a mentor. Then again, that's just my guess.

It was rumored that Hailee Steinfeld was being eyed for the main role of the Hawkeye series, but after the allegations against Renner, it seems that she's now unsure of jumping onboard. If anything, I'm sure there are a lot of other actresses that could be right for the part, but I'm sure that Steinfeld would have done a great job.

The Hawkeye series is set to come out in the fall of 2021. Disney+ launches on Nov. 12.
