Hawkeye Finale Pulls Surprising Swerve on Supposed Villain

When fans learned that Tony Dalton will be part of Hawkeye as Jack Duquesne, there was no doubt in everyone's minds that he will be one of the show's villains and frankly, it was a no-brainer especially given his comic book background as Swordsman. Over the course of the Marvel Cinematic Universe spinoff series, the character has displayed dubious attributes that made him hard to trust, and viewers were convinced that it was only a matter of time before he exposed his "true colors".

Well, the series finale did just that and shockingly enough, Marvel Studios pulled another swerve by revealing that Duquesne was on the side of good all this time and his eccentric behavior was apparently just mistaken for villainous tendencies. In fact, he even helped Kate Bishop fight some of the members of the tracksuit mafia during one of Episode 6's climactic sequences which shocked a lot of viewers.

Of course, this isn't the first time Marvel has successfully deceived fans and I gotta say, as odd as it is, I like the idea of Jack Duquesne being retconned into a protagonist especially after it was revealed that Kate Bishop's mother Eleanor was the one responsible for the death of Armand Duquesne III. Now that Jack has gained the trust of Kate, I'd love to see him serve as a father-figure to her.
