Births.Movies.Death recently talked to Flagan about the upcoming season. While Netflix previously that Season 2 is based on Henry James' 1898 novella The Turn of the Screw, Flanagan said that the series is drawing from more than one of the author's stories.

"It's a cool way to expand on some of the things I loved about season one, but within the framework of a new story, without having to be restrained by the decisions we made last time," Flanagan told the outlet. "For Henry James fans, it's going to be pretty wild, and for people who aren't familiar with his work, it's going to be unbelievably scary. I already think it's much scarier than season one, so I'm very excited about it."

Season 2, The House of Bly Manor, will feature several actors from the first season in new roles, including Victoria Pedretti as the governess Dani and Oliver Jackson-Cohen as a Bly Manor resident named Peter. The new season is expected to release on Netflix in 2020.
