The 70-year-old used to be a film producer, and together with his brother, Bob Weinstein, they founded the entertainment company Miramax.
They produced some of the best films known today, like Sex, Lies, and Videotape, Pulp Fiction, and Shakespeare in Love, among others.
He’s also an award-winning producer, bringing him an Academy for producing Shakespeare in Love and seven Tonys for the plays and musicals The Producers, Billy Elliot the Musical, and August: Osage County.
Harvey and Bob then founded The Weinstein Company after leaving Miramax.

However, come October 2017, Harry faced a number of sexual abuse allegations dating back to the 1970s, resulting in his dismissal from his own company. He was also expelled from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.
Over 80 women accused Harvey of sexual harassment and/or rape by the end of October of the said year. These allegations gave birth to the movement #MeToo on social media, giving all women worldwide the courage to speak up against powerful men around the globe.
This phenomenon is even called the “Weinstein effect.”

In Mary 2018, Harvey was arrested and charged with rape in New York. In February 2020, he was found guilty of two of his five felony cases.
He received a sentence of 23 years in prison, starting serving at Wende Correctional Facility. His earliest possible release is in 2039. At the time, he will be 87.

However, when the sexual scandals broke in 2017, it quickly plummeted to $25 million today.

A Los Angeles jury found Harvey guilty of raping a woman and two sexual assault charges on Monday, December 19.

The trial went on for two months and revealed how he used his influence to lure women into private meetings only to attack them later.
Harvey is now facing up to 24 years in prison when he receives his new sentence. He’s already serving 23 years in jail after he was convicted of rape and sexual assault at his first trial in New York in 2020.
