As a fitness expert, she released her first exercise video, Jane Fonda’s Workout, which became the highest-selling VHS of the 20th century.

Come 1991, she married the billionaire media mogul Ted Turner and retired from acting after a series of commercially unsuccessful films. When they divorced after a decade, she came out of retirement and made it big with the success of Monster-in-Law, Georgia Rule, and her first Broadway appearance after 49 years, 33 Variations.

Meanwhile, Fonda happily announced that her cancer is now in remission, and she can stop having chemotherapy.

“Last week I was told by my oncologist that my cancer is in remission and I can discontinue chemo,” Fonda wrote in her blog post titled BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER!!! “I am feeling so blessed, so fortunate. I thank all of you who prayed and sent good thoughts my way. I am confident that it played a role in the good news.”
