It's been 10 years since the last Harry Potter film was released, but the series is still beloved amongst Potterheads up to this day and the franchise still lives on today through the Fantastic Beasts prequel films. Now, it looks like we are about to take a trip back to Hogwarts soon as the original stars are set to reunite for a new special.
HBO Max has announced that original Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint will reunite in an upcoming retrospective special titled Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts which will stream this New Year's Day, January 1. The three stars will be joined by director Chris Columbus, who directed the first two films. It is in celebration of the Harry Potter series' 20th anniversary which began in 2001's Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. You can watch the teaser trailer here:
The special is described as "an enchanting making-of story through all-new in-depth interviews and cast conversations, inviting fans on a magical first-person journey through one of the most beloved film franchises of all time." It will also air on TBS and Cartoon Network in spring 2022 ahead of the release of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.
Some of the Harry Potter cast members who will also be part of the special are Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch, Ian Hart, and many more.

This announcement will certainly delight Potterheads around the world who have been looking forward to seeing the stars reunite. It may not be for another film, but at least we'll get to see them together again after all these years and watch them share their memories when they were making the films.
