One of the many surprises featured in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is Han Solo's return. Since the character met his tragic fate in the hands of his own son in The Force Awakens, fans didn't expect to see the character once again in the latest movie. As it turns out, fans weren't the only ones surprised, because, apparently, Harrison Ford was too.

"When JJ [Abrams] asked me to do it, I said, ‘Are you kidding? I'm dead!'" Ford told USA Today. "He said, ‘Sorra dead. You can do this.'"

Ford says Abrams hasn't even written anything at that time yet. However, the director told him that it was going to be "great," which is why he agreed to return. "If JJ asked you do something, you'd probably do it too," the actor continued, adding that Abrams is a "very persuasive guy."

That being said, Ford revealed that the reason he actually returned is that he believes it's essential to Kylo Ren's arc. "It was a useful addition to the story and continuing development of Adam Driver's character," he said. "And the chance to do another scene with Adam was great."

Ford's surprise return was both a great and pivotal scene. Star Wars fans were certainly glad to see him reprise his role in the final installment of the Skywalker Saga. His part was one of the emotional scenes as well and it was nice to see Han Solo help lead his son towards redemption.
