Star Wars fans were shocked when Star Wars: The Force Awakens had Han Solo (Harrison Ford) die at the hands of his own estranged son in a film installment that was set to rekindle the Star Wars franchise. Like Luke (Mark Hamill) and Leia (Carrie Fisher), the slick old smuggler is part of the saga's big three characters, and many expected Han to do more things in the sequel trilogy's first installment.
Now as Lucasfilm sets out to release The Force Awaken's sequel, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, fans continue to wonder whether the studio would bring back Han as a Force Ghost or as an individual in a flashback.
Addressing the hope for Han's return in a profile article by GQ, Ford shoots down the possibility of a resurrection, saying that the scruffy-looking nerf herder's arc is absolutely finished after being stabbed by Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) in the film.
"Um, I mean, I'm finished with Star Wars if Star Wars is finished with me," Ford told the publication.
When asked whether Star Wars was really through with him, Ford's response was that "I can't imagine it. But it is science fiction.( But )I'd rather not. You know, at this point I'd rather do something else. Just because it's more interesting to do something new."
The Star Wars legend also went on to explain how he got into The Force Awakens in the first place.
"It was proposed that I might make another appearance as Han Solo," the actor detailed. "And I think it was mentioned, even in the first call, that he would not survive. That's something I'd been arguing for for some period of time, so I said okay."
Ford hasn't always been happy with Han Solo and there have been a lot of rumors that Ford's wanted to see Han Solo died ever since A New Hope got a couple of sequels; Empire Strikes Back and The Return of the Jedi. It might be time to give the man some rest.
