Harrison Ford Is In Talks To Star A Film Adaptation Of The Call Of The Wild

It looks like Star Wars legend Harrison Ford might be in talks to star in a new film adaptation of Jack London's classic novel Call of the Wild while Indiana Jones 5 is being pushed back to 2021.

According to Variety, Ford is currently eyeing a role in Call of the Wild while Indiana Jones 5 is on hold with Solo: A Star Wars Story screenwriter Jonathan Kasdan reworking the film's script. The Croods' Chris Sanders is set to direct 20th Century Fox's big-budget adaptation of the novel from a script written by Logan's Michael Green. Ford is hoping to play John Thorton, the final master of the dog Buck in the novel.

For those who aren't familiar with London's Call of the Wild, the adventure novel is an iconic classic considered one of the greatest American Stories with multiple adaptations made over the years. The book focuses on the story of a sheltered half St. Bernard and half sheep dog named Buck who finds himself stolen from his owners and sold off. Eventually, he becomes a sled dog in Klondike, Alaska where he meets the John Thornton, his final master, a man who saves Buck from death at the cruel hands of another owner. Though Buck loves John, he eventually heeds the call of the wild and joins a wolf pack in the wilderness.

An outdoorsman, John Thorton's role definitely feels like something that Ford could play. It isn't hard imagining the Star Wars legend out in the freezing cold hunting in the Klondike.

The Call of the Wild adaptation doesn't have a release date just yet but the film is reportedly set to begin production this September.
