One of the most respected actors in the South Korean entertainment industry, Han Suk Kyu never fails to deliver amazing performances.
With his more than three decade-long career, it’s no surprise why the award winning actor is known as someone who could deliver box office success.
Debuting in 1990, he began his career playing minor roles, landing his first ever on-screen project for the TV show Our Paradise.
Interestingly, it was in the 1994 series The Moon of Seoul that he got his big break by starring in his first lead role.
From then on, Han Suk Kyu continued to captivate viewers with his amazing portrayals and landed several main character projects.

He may have headlined a slew of K-dramas and films, but viewers recognize him as the legendary surgeon in Dr. Romantic.
Han Suk Kyu played Kim Sa Bu, who used to be a top tier surgeon at a city based hospital but chose to work at a shabby hospital called Doldam due to an incident.
With the overwhelming response from the public, the SBS series had three sequels, and Dr. Romantic 3 recently debuted its latest sequel.
Tree With Deep Roots
Han Suk Kyu cemented his name in the industry after winning various awards. One of his first achievements is the series Tree With Deep Roots.
He took home the Daesang, or grand prize award, at the 2011 SBS Drama Awards for his performance as Joseon’s King Se Jong.
Interestingly, Hallyu star Song Joong Ki played the younger version of Han Suk Kyu.

Secret Door
From award winning saeguk, Han Suk Kyu stars in another historical series.
Secret Door, helmed by Joseon Exorcist director Shin Kyung Soo and Under the Queen's Umbrella director Kim Hyung Shik, Secret Door features Han Suk Kyu as King Yeong Jo.
It depicts the conflict between his son, Crown Prince Sa Do, played by Lee Je Hoon.
It also stars Yoon So Hee, Kim Min Jong, Park Eun Bin, and im Yoo Jung as the younger versions of Yoo So Hee.
