Halloween and Punisher Star Joins DC Universe's Swamp Thing

DC Universe's upcoming Swamp Thing series has gotten plenty of fan interest, given the complex history of the comic book character. Ever since Alan Moore got his hands on the "guardian of the green," Swamp Thing has been the center of some quality stories. Since his comic books are in such high quality, we're all hoping that the live-action series lives up to the reputation DC has built up for it.

A report from Deadline has confirmed that the DC Universe series has cast one of the most infamous characters in the comics; Avery Sunderland. Fans will be happy to know that Punisher and Halloween star Will Patton has been cast in the role. Patton already looks a bit like the character and his performance in the Halloween reboot has got fans talking.

He should make for a great villain in the series, given how protective Swamp Thing is over his, erm, swamp. Expect the two to clash a number of times, though Swampie probably won't be able to beat him up too much. Sunderland is just a man after all, while Swamp Thing is a mythical monster.

As its most prominent businessman, Avery Sunderland (Patton) serves as the de facto patriarch of his Louisiana hometown, always giving back to the community. His benevolent veneer, however, masks a ruthless determination to harness the power of the swamp for profit.

Currently, Swamp Thing has no release date but will be a live-action series for the DC Universe streaming service. No word yet if it will share the same universe as Titans and Doom Patrol.
