Netflix has released numerous K-dramas this year, and more are coming. One highly anticipated Netflix K-drama is Gyeongseong Creature, a historical thriller series starring Park Seo-joon and Han So-hee. So, what’s the release date for Gyeongseong Creature?

Gyeongseong Creature Release Date: When Is the K-Drama Coming Out?

When the show was first announced, there was no specific release date yet for Gyeongseong Creature. However, the K-drama was expected to be released in the fourth quarter of 2023, specifically in December.

Ahead of its premiere, a second part of Gyeongseong Creature was already confirmed. Responding to reports about a second part, Netflix said (via Soompi):

“‘Gyeongseong Creature 2’ is being produced. The filming schedule has not yet been decided.” As Season 1 of 'Gyeongseong Creature' has yet to premiere, a confirmation of Season 2 proves an immense amount of confidence in the production, further raising anticipation for the upcoming thriller.”

Netflix announced the release date of the series in a video. According to the date announcement video, Gyeongseong Creature Part 1 will be released on December 22, 2023. Meanwhile, the second part will be released on January 5, 2024.

The synopsis for Gyeongseong Creature, as provided by Netflix, reads: “In the spring of 1945, a grim era of bitter darkness, a young man and woman struggle for survival while fighting monsters born out of human greed.”

Park Seo-joon and Han So-hee star as the main protagonists in Gyeongseong Creature.

Korean actor Park Seo-joon is known for his main roles in the K-dramas Kill Me, Heal Me, She Was Pretty, Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth, Fight for My Way, What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, and Itaewon Class. He will also be starring in the upcoming Marvel movie, The Marvels.

In Gyeongseong Creature, Park Seo-joon plays Jang Tae-sang, a wealthy man and the most well-connected person in Gyeongseong. Tae-sang puts money first before justice, but things change when he meets Yoon Chae-ok.

Korean actress Han So-hee plays Yoon Chae-ok, a famous bounty hunter who tracks down missing people. Han So-hee is widely known for her leading role in The World of the Married. She then starred in leading roles in the K-dramas Nevertheless, My Name, and Soundtrack #1.

The supporting cast includes Wi Ha-joon, Kim Soo-hyun/Claudia Kim, Kim Hae-sook, Jo Han-chul, Ji Woo, and Park Ji-hwan.

Wi Ha-joon is known for his role as the police officer Hwang Jun-ho in Netflix’s Squid Game. In Gyeongseong Creature, Wi Ha-joon plays Kwon Jun-taek, Tae-sang’s best friend.

Kim Soo-hyun/Claudia Kim plays Maeda, the wife of a powerful official in Gyeongseong during the colonial period. The actress has starred in the films Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and The Dark Tower.

Kim Hae-sook has starred in other Netflix K-dramas, including Start-Up, Tomorrow, and Hospital Playlist. Actor Jo Han-chul also starred in other Netflix series, including Vincenzo and Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha.

Ji Woo has starred in the K-dramas The First Responders and Hello, My Twenties!, while Park Ji-hwan has appeared in the K-dramas Touch Your Heart and Our Blues.

The K-drama Gyeongseong Creature is helmed by Jung Dong-yoon, who previously directed the sports drama Hot Stove League.

The historical thriller series is written by Kang Eun-kyung. She has written for the K-dramas Dr. RomanticGhost, Where Stars Land, Gu Family Book, and Bread, Love and Dreams.
