Fans were delighted to see Suletta and Miorine finally get married in the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury’s finale. Sadly, it seems that the marriage is no longer a sure thing as Bandai Namco Filmworks hit the brakes on Suletta and Miorine’s yuri ending.
While the episode seemingly confirmed a marriage between the two, it seems that that is not the case, at least based on the latest issue of Gundam Ace, which was edited by Bandai Namco Filmworks.

Bandai Namco Filmworks Removes Suletta and Miorine ‘Marriage’ Mention
In the initial version of the magazine issue, an interview with Suletta and Miorine VAs Kana Ichinose and Lynn had them mention their characters’ marriage.
Specifically, Ichinose said it was touching to see the “married pair” in the final episode. This pretty much confirms that, for the voice cast (and possibly for the staff), Suletta and Miorine do get married.
Though recently, the digital issue of the magazine was edited to remove Ichinose’s mention of the two being married.
As expected, fans were not happy with the change, enough that Bandai Namco Filmworks issued a statement regarding the change in the interview.
Specifically, Bandai Namco Filmworks said that the magazine’s editor assumed that the two were married.
Upon checking, Bandai Namco requested the change to make their relationship more open to interpretation.
Given how important the yuri element of the show is for many viewers, lots of fans expressed their disappointment with the decision online.

Fans Are Not Happy About Suletta and Miorine’s ‘Open to Interpretation’ Relationship
It’s not exactly a yuri anime, but Gundam: Witch from Mercury gained a lot of yuri fans as its first episode already established the Suletta x Miorine pairing. Their relationship then blossomed as the anime continued.
Because of this, the ending, which shows them having matching rings and being married, was well-received by most.
So, it’s no surprise that fans are not happy with Bandai Namco turning back from the marriage ending.
On Twitter, many expressed their disappointment, saying that even if the marriage ending is denied, it’s still very much the canon ending for the anime.
The only solace that fans can really take is that the production company didn’t outright say that they’re not married.
Still, it would’ve been good to see their marriage be acknowledged properly given how rare that is in more mainstream anime.
