Guardians of the Galaxy’s Davae Bautista Cast In Denis Villeneuve’s Dune

It looks like the gears are starting to shift for Denis Villeneuve's Dune because it looks like Dave Bautista has just been cast in the reboot of David Lynch's 1984 science fiction epic.

Variety has new details about Dune and according to the publication, Bautista has joined the film's cast in a mysterious new role. After appearing in Blade Runner 2049, this new project will mark the second collaboration between the Guardians of the Galaxy star and Denis Villeneuve, the acclaimed French Canadian director of films like Sicario and Arrival.

Seeing how Bautista did an excellent job playing Snapper Morton in Blade Runner 2049, it comes as no surprise seeing the actor return to work with Villeneuve in his next science fiction movie project. Unfortunately, little is known about the Marvel star's role in the film.

Bautista is the latest to join the project. Oscar-nominated Call Me By Your Name star Timothee Chalamet was the first to be cast in the project, receiving the role as lead character Paul Atreides. Mission: Impossible actress Rebecca Ferguson followed in September last year, taking on the parts to play Lady Jessica, Paul's own mother.

Hopefully, Bautista's will receive a bigger role in Dune. The Guardians of the Galaxy actor's part in Blade Runner didn't last all too long, though fans did enjoy his performance as Morton.

A story originally written in the 60s by Frank Herbert, Dune is a story set in the distant future. The narrative follows the life of Paul Atreides whose family takes control over Arrakis, a barren desert planet. Dune explores many different themes including religion, politics, and man's relationship with nature around him.

Dune has yet to receive a release date but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
