Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Might be James Gunn's Final MCU Film

There is little doubt that people are already looking forward to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 although the sequel hasn't been given an official release date just yet. But is it possible that the movie could also be James Gunn's last Marvel Cinematic Universe film? The filmmaker has just revealed that he has no plans on working on a fourth Guardians movie.

Gunn has been answering fan questions in his Instagram stories and one follower had asked whether there was any chance of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4 since Gunn had previously stated he wouldn't do a second film (via Screenrant). Interestingly, the Suicide Squad director stated that he is only aiming to work on a trilogy.

"I absolutely never said I wouldn't do a Vol 2, as I planned to do a trilogy from the beginning if the first one worked. I have no plans to do a 4th," Gunn wrote.

This is a disappointing realization for fans who were hoping that the Guardians' story will continue into a fourth film. However, it looks like the team's story arc will have to end with Vol. 3.

Of course, this doesn't mean we won't see the Guardians again in the MCU. There's still a chance that some characters will show up in other films. In addition to that, Gunn might also get called in to work on a different MCU movie.

Do you think Gunn should work on a fourth movie or should the story arc conclude with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? Sound off in the comments below.
