Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: James Gunn Might Not Get Rehired After All

It seemed like things were going to go well for James Gunn. The director continues to receive a ton of support from fans and friends alike, with the whole Guardians of the Galaxy cast standing by him. There were even rumors of Disney meeting with Gunn to possibly rehire him but if this report means anything, it looks like that isn't going to happen.

Variety reports that Disney won't be rehiring Gunn anytime soon, claiming that the tweets made are unacceptable in the #metoo era, Granted, they were made years ago and were done to be shocking but it looks like that won't be enough. This will probably disappoint fans, as well as the Guardians cast, who really want Gunn back in the director's seat.

As far as the cast goes, Disney and Marvel aren't too worried about how they will react to this since all of them are contractually obligated to appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. They might even appear in other Marvel movies but that's all just speculation. Either way, none of them are expected to leave until their contracts inspire.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is supposed to start shooting in 2019 and has no release date. All of the Guardians members are expected to appear in Avengers 4.
