The rumor mill began spinning yet again when several sources reported over the weekend that actor Will Poulter was the top contender to play Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The character was first teased in the second Guardians film and since then, there has been countless speculation surrounding Marvel Studios' potential casting for the role.

A day after the rumor spread like wildfire, Deadline seemingly sealed the deal by also releasing an article about Poulter's monumental Marvel Cinematic Universe casting. Of course, a lot of you are aware of the website's track record when it comes to reliability.
Now, in a surprising twist, director James Gunn has finally confirmed that the We're The Millers actor will in fact be the MCU's live-action Adam Warlock.

Reposting Deadline's casting article, Gunn broke the intriguing casting news to his followers while also confirming that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will begin filming in a couple of weeks. "As you guys know I often strike down false rumors, so… um… Welcome to the Guardians family, Will Poulter. He's an amazing actor and wonderful guy. See you in a couple weeks."

As it stands, we're not quite sure yet whether or not James had a hand in choosing Poulter but it would be safe to assume that he was indeed responsible for it. After all, Gunn is notorious for being extremely hands-on when it comes to his projects. If that's actually the case, I have complete faith that he knows what he's doing because let's face it, Will Poulter doesn't exactly scream comic book superhero or villain, let alone Adam Warlock. I'm excited to see how this all plays out.

The MCU's third Guardians of the Galaxy film is scheduled for release on May 5, 2023.
