We already know that Cosmo the Spacedog is joining the Guardians next year but we just got an awesome look at the talking canine's return in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. This time, Cosmo is voiced by Borat Subsequent Moviefilm actor Maria Bakalova who hyped up her character's awesome role in the special Disney+ feature.
Maria Bakalova spoke to Discussing Film about playing Cosmo and she admitted that being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a huge honor.
"Having the chance to join the family of Marvel and especially the Guardians of the Galaxy, which was my first love in the MCU, was a dream come true," she said before addressing Cosmo's role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
"I love seeing all the people excited for Vol. 3, the fans have been so welcoming and warm. It’s truly precious and reminds you why you’re actually doing this kind of work, to make people feel something. I think that’s the biggest gift," she said.
It's clear that Maria Bakalova is excited for fans to meet her version of Cosmo and she is hoping they will love the character as a part of the Guardians.
"Yeah, we need some puppy love in it! We need something like that out there. Cosmo created a new world for me. So I hope people will root for her and enjoy it," Bakalova said.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is now out and it looks like fans are already loving the sassy Cosmo and her interactions with Rocket Raccoon and Groot. With that in mind, we're already looking forward to seeing more of the Spacedog in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is now streaming on Disney+. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to premiere in theaters on May 5, 2023.
