According to reports, Blanco ordered the murder of her first husband, Carlos Trujillo. She had met him when she was 13 years old. They had three kids together.

Alberto Bravo was Griselda Blanco's second husband. Unlike Trujillo, Bravo was a well-off criminal. In fact, it was him who introduced Blanco to the cocaine industry.

This led them to smuggle cocaine to New York. Meanwhile, Blanco started to get creative on how to smuggle cocaine undetected.

She purchased an underwear factory and designed underwear with secret compartments. This is where she managed to store the drug and smuggle it into the US.

According to reports, Blanco and Bravo's operation had a network of 1,500 dealers, enforcers, and smugglers.

They worked with women, who became drug mules that carried $10,000 worth of cocaine via the secret compartments in the underwear designed by Blanco.

Charles Cosby, Blanco's ex-lover, told the Miami Herald that Blanco was earning $10 million per week.

Although Bravo frequently went to Colombia to manage the production of their product, Blanco became overly paranoid and suspicious of her husband.

Her alleged taste for violence and extravagant lifestyle fueled her paranoia. She was convinced that he had been stealing from their joint operation.

In April 1975, Blanco flew to Colombia to fix their marriage issues. However, the couple arrived with armed bodyguards, which showed their distrust for one another.

Reports say that a shootout occurred between both camps. Although Bravo managed to wound his wife with an Uzi blast to her stomach, Blanco managed to kill him.

The shootout also led to the deaths of six bodyguards.

Although Blanco was linked to the murder of between 40 to 250 victims, her ex-husband's death was the only direct killing that police could pin on Blanco.
