Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 recently saw the return of one of its beloved characters, Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh).

The highly-anticipated comeback of Addison will be short-lived. However, this doesn’t mean that Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 4 is the last time that fans will see the character.

While speaking with Variety, Walsh confirmed that she would just be doing a few episodes this season. Even though the actress did not specify the number of episodes she will be a part of, we’re hoping that a few episodes could mean anywhere beyond two installments.

“Right now, we’re just doing a few episodes and we’ll see what happens. I was excited, though, to make the comeback to where it all began for me. In the couple of episodes that we shot, there was a great response to that first one, and I think the second one people are gonna really love, too. Nobody knows what the future holds… but for now, this is what we’ve got planned: just to have Addison pop in and we’ll see what happens, what transpires,” Walsh said.

What’s In Store For Addison In Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 4?

Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 4 titled With a Little Help From My Friends, will see Addison working closely with her former sister-in-law, Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone).

Addison and Amelia had a very complicated relationship while they were both in Private Practice. After all, Amelia was a drug addict who went in and out of rehab.

The final straw for Addison was when she asked Amelia to check herself in, highly complex but the latter initially refused. In the end, Amelia decided to get sober for herself and her loved ones.

In Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 4, Addison will ask Amelia to help treat her patient who suffers from a complication. However, the professional dynamics between two of the best doctors will be pretty tense.

“The second episode is a little more contained, and you really see Addison and Amelia’s dynamic play out and their reconnecting. That was a total delight for me, and I think fans will enjoy that, as well. It’s a completely different kind of episode than the first one, but intensely intimate and satisfying,” Walsh said.

The actress added that Addison and Amelia’s main focus in Episode 4 would be the former’s patient and not so much on their complicated history as depicted in Private Practice.

“All of the personal stuff that transpires is really still framed around these life and death moments and what’s going on with [Addison’s patient] Tova… But even with the dynamic [with] Amelia, it’s still really grounded in the Tova case and medical, and then from that, the real personal [stuff] comes out…,” she said.

Will Addison Encourage Amelia To Get Back Together With Link?

Addison and Amelia will most likely discuss the latter’s relationship with Link (Chris Carmack).

In the previous episodes, Link proposed to Amelia multiple times and tried to buy four different kinds of rings, but she rejected him.

Amelia made it clear to Link that she didn’t want to be tied down.

According to Walsh, Amelia’s mindset when it comes to estrangement from Link may be deeply rooted in her personal and professional history with Addison.

It’s unclear what this exactly means, but this is expected to become one of this week’s most significant revelations.

It is also important to note that Amelia seemingly flirted with Dr. Kai Bartley (E.R. Fightmaster) in Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 3. And Dr. Kai asked Amelia if she could fly to Minnesota to retest their cure for Parkinson’s.

It’s possible that Amelia won’t fly to Minnesota while Addison is in Seattle because the two would be working together first. But once Addison heads back to her main job, Amelia could easily reunite with Dr. Kai.

Is Addison Still Married?

According to Walsh, Addison is still happily married to her husband. And fans will get to hear a little bit more of the character’s backstory in Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 4.

“They’re still married… You hear a little more of Addison’s backstory, if you will, with Jake and Henry, particularly as it correlates to COVID and what she went through. It will be really interesting to hear where she’s been and what she’s been experiencing,” Walsh said.
