Iconic comic book writer Grant Morrison has shared his response to Zack Snyder's controversial take on Batman's infamous "no-kill" rule.

The Rebel Moon director recently made rounds online over his comments on the Caped Crusader's "no-kill" rule as he argued that it made the hero "irrelevant" during an interview on The Joe Rogan Experience.

It received divisive reactions among DC fans as many of them believed that the "no-kill" rule was essential to the Caped Crusader.

As reported by Screen Rant, Morrison offered his rebuttal to Snyder's controversial comments on Batman's "no-kill" rule and explained why it is important for the hero to not kill his enemies.

"I was reading how film director Zack Snyder thinks Batman should kill as part of the character’s self-imposed mission to stop crime," he wrote in his Xanaduum newsletter.

"If Batman killed his enemies, he’d be the Joker, and Commissioner Gordon would have to lock him up!"

Morrison also argued that the "no-kill" rule is integral to the character's psychology because of his code of honor that was locked in from his childhood.

"That Batman puts himself in danger every night but steadfastly refuses to murder is an essential element of the character’s magnificent, horrendous, childlike psychosis," he explained.

The writer went on to explain further why the personality defines Batman and how it made him an ideal hero.

As most Batman fans know, Morrison is the writer behind several iconic storylines featuring the Caped Crusader so he is definitely an expert on the character and knows the importance of the "no-kill" rule.

He made a great argument on why it is essential to the character and why it is a defining trait that makes Batman an iconic figure for decades. Fans would even say that Morrison helped redefine him as a modern hero which makes his take valuable.

This is a debate that will continue to happen for many years to come whether it is coming from a prominent figure like Snyder or ordinary fans on a daily basis.
