Graham McTavish Mystery Role In Aquaman Revealed

You might know him as the Saint of Killers from Preacher or Dwalin from The Hobbit films but Graham McTavish has another iconic role on his belt. The former Outlander star's mysterious role in Aquaman has finally been revealed.

Spoilers Ahead! You Have Been Warned!

The extended trailer for Aquaman already offered a glimpse of McTavish as Arthur and Mera unlock an ancient Atlantean artifact in the Sahara Desert. The scene confirms that McTavish is playing a former king of Atlantis. But which one is he, exactly? As it turns out, the Preacher actor is playing the DC Extended Universe version of King Atlan.

In the comic books, Atlan was known as the Greatest King of Atlantis who was betrayed by his brother Orin and single-handedly sunk the kingdom. However, his story is somehow different in the film, where he is revealed as the first king of Atlantis. Needless to say, they couldn't find a better King Atlan than McTavish.

Playing King Atlan is hardly a stretch for McTavish, who has appeared in several memorable films. He was in Rambo with Sylvester Stallone and the two recently reunited on the movie Creed. McTavish has also been featured in TV shows like Red Dwarf, 24, Prison Break, Rome, Pushing Daisies, and Colony. His most recent TV series is the fourth season of Lucifer. McTavish has confirmed that he has wrapped filming on the show with an awesome tribute to the cast and crew.

Catch McTavish in Aquaman, which hit theaters on December 21. Lucifer Season 4 is expected to premiere on Netflix in 2019.
