Gotham City Sirens has been Put on Hold

Before we even got news that Birds of Prey was in development, it was teased by Suicide Squad director David Ayer that he was working on an all-woman team-up with Harley Quinn called Gotham City Sirens. Though he was working on the movie, he now confirms that the film has been put on hold.

SlashFilm has noted that Ayer usually avoided answering questions about GCS, but during a recent interview Ayer has confirmed, "No, I think it's on pause."

Though we don't have any official update on Gotham City Sirens, rumors have been coming out that it's the film that WB plans to follow-up to Birds of Prey should BoP prove to be a success. What's more, it's also been said that it could all build up to a team clash with a Birds vs Sirens film. Again, this is all just based on rumors, so, for now, we have to take it with a grain of salt.

I have to admit, though Suicide Squad was not the best film in the DCEU, it definitely was not without its merits. The look and feel of the film are very distinct and based on the set photos we've seen of James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, I still prefer what Ayer brought to the table with his film.

While Ayer may not be working on any DC property now, he does have plans to come back one day. He says, "I love the world creation of it and I love the power of the IP and the fans… It's dangerous. It's like juggling chainsaws, but I am drawn to it and it's definitely an arena I'll play in again."

For now, catch Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) when it hits theaters Feb. 7.
