How is Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire's Shimo related to the King of Kaiju, Godzilla? The newly discovered monster, Shimo, is coming to the big screens soon, but did you know its historical connection to the main monster of the franchise?
Who is Shimo? What Kind of Creature Is It?
Shimo, believe it or not, was first revealed to be a Kaiju in a different franchise. The reptilian monster made its first cameo on the cave painting of historical Godzilla battling in Call of Duty: Warzone in 2020-2022.
This Kaiju creature has white scales and possesses crystalline spines down its back, emanating a blue color on its body.
The spines cover her entire back down to the length of her tail, which is part of what makes her much stronger than Kong during their fight.
As of current, Shimo is the largest monster in the MonsterVerse franchise. She surpasses Ghidorah by 3.65 meters in height.
She was originally designed to be male, until she was rendered to be female, according to the monster's designer and creator Jared Krichevsky.
Although the gender doesn't matter to him, the creator added that Shimo being female "opens up a lot of interesting story possibilities."
In this case, we could be looking at another potential growth for the Godzilla, Monsterverse, and Godzilla vs Kong franchises when Shimo is revealed to be asexually producing her own offspring. But that remains to be seen.

Is the New Titan Shimo Related to Godzilla in The New Empire?
Shimo has close ties with Godzilla, but not in the way you think.
They may look similarly alike, but they have nothing else in common. If anything, every single appearance Shimo has made in the past cave paintings in the Godzilla vs Kong franchise had been warning signs of their highly anticipated battle.
Considering that Shimo has been painted on the walls by cavemen, and had long been frozen underground, this calls for a necessary reunion between her and the two Titans of the story — a massive showcase of their mastery of strength and attest to their epic narrative.
