Godzilla vs. Kong Snynopsis Revealed Ahead of King of Monsters

Godzilla: King of Monsters may be coming out next year, but it's all just build-up to a clash between Godzilla and King Kong. That movie is set to come out in 2020, but now we have a synopsis released to give us an idea of what to expect.

Here's the official plot synopsis from WB (via ScreenRant):

In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity's fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans' origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.

Seeing that King Kong and Godzilla have been marketed as the ‘good guys' in both their individual franchises, I have a feeling this is going to play out like Batman v Superman in a sense that they will both clash in the beginning and team-up to fight the ‘greater evil' by the end.

Then again, I hope I'm wrong. It would be amazing if the two actually had different ‘agendas' in the movie and the audience would end up not knowing who to root for. But based on the synopsis, there's going to be a bigger bad at play; I'm just hoping they come up with a Kaiju that's more threatening than King Ghidorah. How do you top a three-headed dragon?

For now, Legendary is gearing up for the release of Godzilla: King of Monsters on May 31, 2019. Godzilla vs. Kong comes out May 22, 2020.
