Godzilla Singular Point (or just Godzilla SP) is proving to be a dividing force within the anime community. While many people are looking forward to watching it (despite it being a Netflix series, we'll get to that in a bit), some people aren't convinced that this series is going to be any good which is disappointing because this series looks like it's going to be a call back to all the old original kaiju movies that many of us watched growing up. Produced jointly by studio BONES and Orange, this series has already promised a lot of explosions and one angry Godzilla.
Featuring an entirely original Godzilla story, there aren't a lot of details regarding what kind of adventure story we're actually going to get. We know for certain that the story is going to center on a female researcher named Mei Kamino and a male engineer named Yun Arikawa, but other than that, all we know is what they have presented to us via the trailers. We don't even know if this is a shonen or seinen type of story yet.
Godzilla Singular Point Release Date
Godzilla Singular Point actually has multiple release dates: The Japanese Netflix premiere date (unfortunately there are no announced plans for the series to appear on either Crunchyroll or Funimation), the Japanese television premiere date, and the Netflix outside of Japan premiere date (which I'm sure will be broken down even further depending on which region or territory you live in). To make this simple, however, we can confirm that the series will first premiere on Japanese Netflix on Thursday, March 25th. This will be followed by the Japanese television broadcast which will occur on Thursday, April 1st, and then finally it will appear on Netflix outside of Japan at some point in 2021 that has yet to be confirmed. We will update this section with that final piece of information as soon as it is made available so that you can start your official countdowns.
Godzilla Singular Point Release Time
At the time of this writing, a solid release time has not been provided by Netflix or the Japanese broadcasters but we believe the series will be released around 12 am Japan Standard Time on Thursday, March 25th in Japan which puts it at airing around the world at the following times:
Pacific Time: 8 AM
Central Time: 10 AM
Eastern Time: 11 AM
British Time: 4 PM
Godzilla Singular Point Trailer
In this subtitled video, we see many characters. Most of them are new, but there's one notable exception to that, and that would be the robot Jet Jaguar who did actually appear in a Godzilla movie back in the 70s. Other than that, it looks like we're going to be dealing with some rather unsavory individuals who seek to make a profit off monsters.
