Many fans are excited about the upcoming reunion of the iconic K-pop girl group Girls' Generation. The South Korean all-girl band, which was formed by SM Entertainment, has been on hiatus since 2017 after members Seohyun, Sooyoung, and Tiffany Young did not renew their contracts with the talent agency.
Though the eight-member group has stopped making music after the release of the "Holiday Night" album almost four years ago, Girls' Generation remains one of the most talked-about K-pop groups today. More so when it was claimed that their reunion is happening very soon.
Girls' Generation Sparked Reunion Rumors After Launching TikTok Account
The K-pop group launched their official and verified account on TikTok in July. Because of this, devoted followers of Girls' Generation started speculating that the reunion of Sunny, Taeyeon, Seohyun, Sooyoung, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Tiffany, and Yoona might be in the works.
The said TikTok account was able to generate more than 31,000 followers during its first 24 hours since the official launch. As of this writing, the official Girls' Generation TikTok account already garnered 96,200 followers, 169,000 likes, and more than 1 million views for the two uploaded videos.
Interestingly, the profile picture of the TikTok account is the name of the group leader, Taeyeon, who just made her comeback with a new digital track titled "Weekend." As for the group's official Twitter and Instagram accounts, its display photos feature the name of Hyoyeon, who is also set to release her solo single called "Second" on Monday, August 9.
Taeyeon And Tiffany Shared Details About Possible Girls' Generation Reunion
Recently, Taeyeon and Tiffany hinted that the much-awaited reunion of Girls' Generation might take longer than expected. As a matter of fact, the pair, who held an Instagram live, was not optimistic about it happening sooner than later.
Tiffany said that they could not coordinate their schedules, adding that Seohyun is currently the busiest of them all these days. The Girls' Generation member also cited the threat of COVID-19 as one of the many reasons why they could not reunite very soon.
The South Korean-American singer-model also revealed if she would appear on Taeyeon's show titled Amazing Saturday. Tiffany said it is still difficult to grace the show, especially with the present global health crisis.
Girls' Generation leader Taeyeon, then, stated that it is very difficult for Korean people. Though Tiffany is not appearing on Amazing Saturday, she is set to grace Mnet's Girls Planet 999 show.
