Giancarlo Esposito Teases Moff Gideon’s Connection to the Force in Star Wars: The Mandalorian


In the final episode of Star Wars: The Mandalorian, Star Wars fans are introduced to Giancarlo Esposito's cryptic and intimidating character, Moff Gideon. While the episode makes it very clear that Gideon is one of the surviving commanders of the Imperial Army after the fall of the Empire in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, the series surprises fans when it has Gideon walking out of his crashed TIE-fighter with the Darksaber in his hand.

Speaking in an interview with Syfy Wire,Breaking Bad star Giancarlo Esposito talks about this surprising detail in The Mandalorian Season 1 finale and what it means for his character.

With the Darksaber in Moff Gideon's possession, many believe that the character is connected to the Force.

"I say that's a possibility," the actor told the entertainment news outlet, "I can't say for sure that is completely the truth, but look, we've seen him come out of his TIE fighter, and we've seen him also with the Darksaber. I would have to say that there's some surprises coming down the pike in regards to the connection he has to the Force. You don't quite know where he fits in there, but he certainly has some information that we don't that connects him to the old school."

As the lead villain of the series, it's clear that we're going to see more of Moff Gideon in the second season of The Mandalorian. It'll definitely be interesting if Gideon had some sort of connection to the Force and powers that we'll get to see in the show's next batch of episodes.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian Season 2 is expected to premiere on Disney+ sometime in October 2020.
