Sony is aiming to sweep Ghostbusters 2016 under the rug and go back to the original continuity with Ghostbusters 2020. The film had just recently nabbed Marvel star Paul Rudd to be part of the main ensemble, and now it looks like we have the final two members of the completed Ghostbusting team.
As per Variety, the movie has now added newcomers Logan Kim and Celeste O'Connor to the fold. We don't really know who they're playing, but seeing as the movie is focusing on kid main characters, it's likely that these two will be the final members of the new team—making them a set of four. O'Connor and Kim join a child cast which includes the likes of Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) and McKenna Grace (Captain Marvel).
Other members of the cast include Carrie Coon (The Leftovers) who is said to be playing the mother of Wolfhard's character. We also don't have any details on who Rudd is playing, but I guess he's going to be some kind of love interest for Coon. I'm also speculating that he's one of the final members of the Ghostbusters before they shut down officially.
With this movie being set in the same continuity as the original, I'm expecting that we would also get appearances from original cast members. The 2016 movie did bring everyone back (including Sigourney Weaver), but I'm kind of hoping they also return my personal favorite actor from the original movies—Rick Moranis.
Ghostbusters 2020 is set to come out on July 20, 2020.
