Even though it has been nearly a year since the park opened, getting tickets to Ghibli Park is still difficult. Soon, it’ll be even harder as Ghibli Park will open the Princess Mononoke village next week, giving fans even more reason to visit.

Ahead of the area’s opening to parkgoers, Ghibli gave members of the Japanese press a look inside to give fans a peek.

Based on the video previews, this area promises to be a must-see for fans as it recreates areas and monsters from the classic film.

Ghibli Park opened in November 2022, and at the time, only three areas out of the planned five were open.

Each area is inspired by various films from the iconic studio such as Howl’s Moving Castle and My Neighbor Totoro.

As for the other two, Ghibli confirmed last year that they will open in 2023 and 2024, respectively. The first to open of the two is the Mononoke Village.

To get fans excited, Studio Ghibli gave the Japanese press permission to take videos of the new area. From these previews, this new area will convince even those who already visited the park to make another trip.

The highlights of this new area are no doubt the recreations of the fearsome monster that Prince Ashitaka fights, as well as the Okkoto-nushi or the forest boar.

Aside from these, the village also features structures inspired by Irontown, which is an iconic location from Princess Mononoke.

Finally, visitors can get their hands on exclusive merch, as well as try out a fun activity where they can make goheimochi – a Chubu region specialty.

As the previews show, the newest themed area in Ghibli Park is complete, so fans won’t have to wait long before it opens.

Mononoke Village will open on November 1, 2023. Following this, the park’s fifth area will open in Spring 2024, and it will be themed after Kiki’s Delivery Service.

For those who want to visit Ghibli Park, tickets are made available for international visitors via the official website.

Take note that given the incredibly high demand, tickets get sold out very quickly.

Moreover, Ghibli Park is not in Tokyo. Instead, it is nearer to Nagoya, which is around an hour and a half away from Tokyo via the Shinkansen.
