Get ready, mates! The beloved cult classic The Inbetweeners is finally making a comeback after more than a decade with the core four.
The coming-of-age sitcom’s creators, Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, through their company Fudge Park Productions, have struck a deal with Banijay UK that will “pave the way for the return of the hit comedy series.”
So, what kind of misadventures can fans expect this time? Read on to find out.
What to Know About The Inbetweeners’ Return

Following the misadventures of suburban teenager William McKenzie and his friends Simon Cooper, Neil Sutherland, and Jay Cartwright at the fictional Rudge Park Comprehensive, The Inbetweeners brought viewers a library of foul-mouthed, puerile quotes when it aired for three seasons on E4 from 2008 to 2010.
While showrunners Beesley and Morris remain mum about the new series’ format or which platform it will be released on, they revealed it would once again revolve around the original characters, with Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, Blake Harrison, and James Buckley reprising their roles.
“Incredibly exciting to be plotting more adventures for our four favourite friends (ooh friends),” they said in a statement (via Variety).
Under the new deal with Banijay UK, Fudge Park Productions now holds “the rights and the potential to bring The Inbetweeners back for new audiences across a range of platforms, including film, TV, and stage.”
“We are thrilled to announce this exciting partnership with Banijay, who share our vision and ambition for one of the most iconic comedies in British history,” Fudge Park managing director Jonathan Blyth said. “This is a wonderful moment for fans—there are exciting conversations afoot and more news to follow.”
Banijay UK CEO Patrick Holland, on the other hand, noted that he had previously worked with Beesley and Morris on several Fudge Park projects. Hence, he’s excited to continue this professional relationship by collaborating on The Inbetweeners’ return.
“[I] was delighted to pick up the conversation about the future of The Inbetweeners with them,” he explained. “They have an infectious creative vision for the brand that will resonate with audiences old and new, so I can’t wait to get going.”
Who Will Return in the New Inbetweeners Series

As Holland mentioned that the new Inbetweeners series would “resonate with audiences old and new,” some of the original cast members are expected to return alongside the four lead stars—Bird, Thomas, Harrison, and Buckley.
Emily Atack, who played Charlotte Hinchcliffe, Will’s one-time girlfriend and the most popular girl in school, is probably one of the most successful supporting cast members from the show.
So, while she left after the first episode of Season 3, it seems Atack is rather skeptical about returning.
“I don't know. We'd all be quite a lot older now,” she said in an interview with Capital Radio in 2024.
Greg Davies, who starred as the school’s head of pastoral care, Mr. Gilbert, alternatively, seems more open to the idea of returning to The Inbetweeners.
“I'm sure we'd all [do it] — but then the boys are in their mid-50s now. They're actually the same age as me now, the boys. They've caught up,” he said on Lorraine.
Other stars fans would love to see in the reboot include Belinda Stewart-Wilson, who played Will's mum, Polly McKenzie, and David Schaal, who portrayed Jay's dad.
However, so far, it has yet to be revealed which supporting characters will be returning in the new Inbetweeners series.
