There's been much debate surrounding the effectiveness and safety of COVID-19 vaccines but if you'd ask Star Trek veteran George Takei, he strongly believes that everyone should get vaccinated amid the ongoing global health crisis. Takei isn't that shy about sharing his bold opinions about certain issues on his social media account and he's been an advocate of the pro-vax campaign that has been going on for months now.

Taking to his personal Twitter account, the Captain Sulu actor told his followers, especially the fans of the Star Trek franchise that they should get vaccinated now that the COVID-19 shots are finally available. He wrote, "If you are a Star Trek fan, but you refuse to get vaccinated, then you are not living up to the ideals of Star Trek. Science, logic, and compassion require us to all do our part."

Of course, not everyone is behind the idea to get themselves vaccinated. Star Wars actress Gina Carano has been vocal about her stand against COVID-19 vaccines, even going as far as mocking them on her social media platform which resulted in her getting harassed for her opinion regarding the matter. However, it seems like she's gotten a little change of heart and in fact, she recently called for a healthy and open discussion with her followers about it. It's understandable how some people refuse to get vaccinated because they probably fear that they'll do more harm than good but I don't think now's the time for paranoia. We all wanna put an end to this pandemic after all.

Meanwhile, Star Trek: Discovery is available for streaming on CBS All Access.
