George R.R. Martin's sixth novel in his epic A Song of Ice and Fire series- The Winds of Winter might finally be released next year.
An editor for Spanish publisher Ediciones Gigamesh, which owns the rights to the Martin's books, said that The Winds of Winter is expected to be released next year.
Alejo Cuervo, who knows GRRM personally, had the following conversation with radio station El món a RAC1 (translated from Spanish):
Radio Host: The sixth book will be?
Cuervo: It is expected next year
Radio Host: In English, but in Spanish when will it be?
Cuervo: We have been promised the manuscript in advance of the release in English which we will translate, there won't be a big difference.*
Radio Host: But you are equally sure it will be next year?
Cuervo: Well, let's see, confident…but a meteor could fall
El Mon RAC1 also brougth up speculation that Season 6 filming will also occur in two new locations. Los Siete Reinos claims that shooting will occur near and around Montgrí Castle and the village of Besalú (images below), both of which are in the beautiful Costa Brava area along the Mediterranean.
Are you excited to read The Winds of Winter? Do you think the HBO series will significantly divert from Martin's books?
Game of Thrones Season 6 will premiere in 2016.
