George R.R. Martin Using Coronavirus Self-Isolation to Complete The Winds of Winter

The Coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19) may have been terrible for most of us considering that several major events have been cancelled or postponed. On the other hand, there have been some good things that happened due to everyone being told to isolate themselves in their homes. It looks like George R.R. Martin finally has the time to finish The Winds of Winter.

Martin recently posted an update on his blog about things happening around New Mexico and which events have been cancelled or postponed due to COVID-19. In addition to that, he offered some details about his own health.

"For those of you who may be concerned for me personally… yes, I am aware that I am very much in the most vulnerable population, given my age and physical condition. But I feel fine at the moment, and we are taking all sensible precautions. I am off by myself in a remote isolated location, attended by one of my staff, and I'm not going in to town or seeing anyone," Martin wrote.

Not surprisingly, Martin also admitted that he is spending his days working on the sixth A Song of Ice and Fire novel.

"Truth be told, I am spending more time in Westeros than in the real world, writing every day. Things are pretty grim in the Seven Kingdoms… but maybe not as grim as they may become here," he wrote.

We're glad to know that Martin is doing well at this time and truly happy that he is working hard on The Winds of Winter. After all, the Game of Thrones author had promised to complete the book within this year. Hopefully, we'll get some positive updates in the next few weeks.

HBO is also developing another Game of Thrones prequel.
