There is little doubt that the year is stretching out a little longer than expected after everything that happened in 2020. However, Game of Thrones fans are probably wondering if George R.R. Martin managed to get any work done on amidst COVID-19 and the recent presidential elections. Luckily, the A Song of Ice and Fire author has just shared an update on The Winds of Winter.
Martin has just tweeted about the latest entry on his Not A Blog journal where he stated that fans usually "care more about what is happening in Westeros than what is happening in the United States" when they check the site. However, he did point out that work on The Winds of Winter is still ongoing.
"So let me assure you that, when not sweating out election returns or brooding over other real world problems, I have continued to work on THE WINDS OF WINTER," Martin wrote. He then added that fans shouldn't get too excited since the novel is far from finished.
"No, sorry, still not done, but I do inch closer. It is a big big book. I try not to dwell on that too much," Martin wrote. He also revealed how he goes about with the writing.
"I write a chapter at a time, a page at a time, a sentence at a time, a word at a time. It is the only way. And sometimes I rewrite," Martin wrote.
We're hoping that although rewrites are required, Martin is still moving forward with new pages as well.
The Winds of Winter has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
