George Lucas Allegedly Gave Dave Filoni ‘A Hard Time’ on the Set of The Mandalorian

Though George Lucas has been hands-off from the Star Wars franchise since 2012, he does take time to visit sets and give his opinion on ongoing projects. One of Lucas' protégés is actually The Clone Wars showrunner Dave Filoni who is making his transition to live-action with The Mandalorian. What's interesting is, Lucas had apparently given Filoni a hard time trying to mentor Filoni on directing.

Talking to EW, Mando showrunner Jon Favreau detailed a visit of Lucas on the set. Favreau says:

"[Lucas] would be giving Dave a hard time about how many setups he was getting and how fast he was shooting and urging him to go faster… He was like a boxer's corner man coaching him, but always with a twinkle in his eye."

It's funny that Favreau would say that Lucas advice was ‘go faster.' If you did your Star Wars research, you'll know that Lucas was notorious for being an uncommunicative director, and his instructions to actors could be summed up into two phrases: "Faster" and "More intense."

For now, fans are excited for The Mandalorian's return on Disney+. While a lot of people weren't too pleased with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, The Mandalorian remained a fan-favorite, introducing a whole new character, yet giving us some fanservice here and there. I'm just hoping this second season will try to bring new things along and not rely too heavily on nostalgia.

Catch The Mandalorian Season 2 when it premieres on Disney+ this Oct. 30.
