Avengers: Endgame is currently tearing up the box office right now, but the end of May will also bring us Disney's live-action remake of Aladdin. The latest trailers have admittedly won over some fans who were over the fence about the movie, and now we have a new clip with Genie and Aladdin discussing the "Make me a prince" wish.
While I'm sure a lot of people miss Robin Williams, I think that Smith is bringing all he can to the Genie character to make it his own. It's said that with the original Genie being an exaggeration of Williams himself, they decided to do the same thing with Smith's live-action version of the Genie. If anything, he's still fun to watch, and I can't wait to see how his magic plays out in the film.
Even if the movie doesn't turn out as well as some would want it to be, I think there are still a lot of saving graces when it comes to these Disney remakes. Production value is always fantastic, and I'm just eager to see new interpretations of classic musical numbers like the Friend Like Me sequence as well as Prince Ali. We still have no confirmation if One Jump is in this film; maybe they can even add Jafar's cut song Why Me.
"Aladdin" is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future. Directed by Guy Ritchie, who brings his singular flair for fast-paced, visceral action to the fictitious port city of Agrabah, the film is written by John August and Ritchie based on Disney's animated classic "Aladdin."
Aladdin hits theaters May 24.
