General Grievous Actor Praises Dave Filoni For Star Wars: The Clone Wars Revival

Fans are not the only ones who are looking forward to the upcoming seventh season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Former Star Wars voice actor Matthew Wood, who provided General Grievous with his throaty rasp, has just praised Dave Filoni for the producer's work on the animated series.

Wood has worked with Filoni on the first six seasons of The Clone Wars. Although it is unclear if Grievous will return in the revival, Wood told Red Carpet News TV that he is delighted that Filoni is taking control of the new season.

"Dave Filoni was one of the best things that ever happened to Lucasfilm, and I'm very happy that he's able and has a lot of the original crew back to come and tell more Clone Wars stories. That for us is really exciting."

Wood, who has reportedly been working for Star Wars for 20 years, also revealed that George Lucas was not expecting The Clone Wars to last as long as it did. The voice actor pointed out that the crew enjoyed working together so much that they decided that the show must go on.

"When we worked on Clone Wars originally, George was like, ‘Let's do six episodes and see where we're at.' And at that point, we just kept going. We did a hundred-plus episodes because everyone loved it so much. And having Dave Filoni spearhead this, along with the fans' interest that's been going for 10 years, it feels great."

So what are the chances that Wood will return as General Grievous? There were major plans for the character to obtain a giant kyber crystal in the seventh season. However, it has not yet been confirmed if the idea will be pursued.

The Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 premiere date has not yet been announced. The new season will be available on Disney's streaming service.
