Game of Thrones Star Kit Harington Reveals Why He Felt "Palpable Fear" Before Watching House of the Dragon

Kit Harington, who played the King of the North Jon Snow in the critically-acclaimed HBO series Game of Thrones, recently revealed that he is "really enjoying" the prequel, House of the Dragon.

Premiered on August 21, House of the Dragon follows the once-great House Targaryen and the bloody Dance of the Dragon battles, set 200 years before the last Targaryen, Daenerys, conquered for the Iron Throne.

There's no doubt that Harington is a fan of the show, but he recently revealed being anxious before the premiere. In a recent interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz, the Eternals actor applauded House of the Dragon but admitted that he was worried about watching the show at first. “I thought I would have PTSD because of this, and I really don’t,” Harington said. “I watched because I was intrigued and because Miguel [Saopochnik], he is my friend and I wanted to see what he did with him." He continued:

“I was very tangibly afraid to sit down and watch it, and I felt emotional and strange seeing people in costumes without being involved, and all this in the front of the press felt weird. And then I watched it and thought, “That’s another matter.” It’s a different program. They are different people."

Harington said that he has "tremendous support" and that he was "very proud" of the new HBO series.

“Not that I’m proud because it has nothing to do with me, but I was proud of them,” Kit said. “I think they made a really good program and that is in itself. It’s really hard to go on with such a large program and I think they did it and made it their own and that’s great. “

Just when we thought Harington's involvement in the Game of Thrones franchise was over, a new spinoff was recently greenlit by HBO and George R.R. Martin with an official title, Snow. The spinoff will reportedly follow the King of the North's next adventure after The Great War. When asked about the spinoff, Harington seemingly plays it coy by saying, “All I’m saying is I don’t know anything about it."

Going back to House of the Dragon, the groundbreaking viewership records instantly resulted in its renewal with House of the Dragon Season 2.

Both Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon are available to stream on HBO Max.
