Game Of Thrones: Sophie Turner Defends Sansa Stark's Fate In Season Finale [SPOILERS]

If you've just seen the sixth and final episode of Game of Thrones Season 8, there's a huge chance you're wondering why Sansa Stark didn't get the ending she may or may not deserve. Nevertheless, Sophie Turner believes that it all made sense for her character in the end.

WARNING: This article is filled with Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 6 spoilers. If you haven't watched The Iron Throne, turn back now!

In the season finale, the remaining lords of Westeros had to decide on who will rule the country after Jon Snow killed Daenerys Targaryen and was imprisoned by the Unsullied. Interestingly, Tyrion Lannister suggested that Bran Stark should rule over Westeros, something that almost everyone agreed with. However, Sansa Stark decided that the North should remain independent and she was later crowned Queen in the North.

So why didn't Tyrion choose Sansa to be the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms? Sophie Turner told Entertainment Weekly that it didn't bother her at all.

"I wasn't bummed at all," Turner said. "Because ever since the end of Season 1, Sansa has not been about the capital or being queen. She doesn't believe she could rule and doesn't want to. She knows her place is in the North and she can rule the people of the North and rule Winterfell. She'd probably be capable [of being Queen of the Seven Kingdoms] with the help of her family and advisors like Tyrion. But she has no desire to be ruler of all of the Seven Kingdoms."

It certainly makes sense that Sansa would rather stay in Winterfell and help her fellow Northmen. Although she would have been an interesting choice to rule over the entire country, Sansa still ended up being the Queen in the North as fans had hoped for at the end of the sixth season.
