Game Of Thrones Season 8: First Glimpse At Golden Company And Possible Surprise Character

We finally have the first official trailer for Game of Thrones Season 8 and it certainly confirms that Euron Greyjoy has purchased the services of the Golden Company. Interestingly, the arrival of the infamous sellswords might also confirm that a long-forgotten A Song of Ice and Fire character will be introduced in the HBO series.

In the trailer, there is a sweeping shot of the Iron Fleets ships before we get a glimpse at a man looking down at a golden-armored army. This is the Golden Company and their commander Harry Strickland, who will be played by Marc Rissman.

It's just a quick look but fans are already speculating that Homeless Harry will not be alone. After all, he is depicted as a weakling in A Song of Ice and Fire and a mere puppet to the true commander of the sellswords who happens to be a lieutenant named "Griff."

Griff is actually Jon Connington, former Hand of the Mad King Aerys Targaryen. Book readers also know that Griff is accompanied by a boy named Young Griff, who happens to be the other Aegon Targaryen, son of Elia Martell and Rhaegar Targaryen.

It is highly unlikely that Young Griff will be introduced in Game of Thrones Season 8 but Jon Connington himself might make an appearance. It's also possible that the series will give Harry Griff's backstory instead. However, it is still important to point out that these are based on speculations so it's best to take it with a grain of salt.

Game of Thrones Season 8 premieres on HBO on April 14.
