Game of Thrones Script Makes Arya Killing The Night King More Sensical

While it was criticized by some, there's no denying that Arya's killing of The Night King was the best thing to come out of Game of Thrones season 8. That's not saying much to those that are already decrying this as the worst season of HBO's beloved adaptation but it was a legitimately cool moment that made people scream with joy.

However, some fans have questioned the legitimacy of that jump Arya took to take on The Night King. Considering the character's height, she would have had to jump off of something high to reach the blue-eyed villain but there actually is a decent excuse for this and it's in the episode's script.

This is what was put in the script, as revealed in the documentary Game of Thrones: The Last Watch:

"The Night King walks with methodical, terrifying calm. He stops before Bran and raises his sword to strike, but something is hurtling towards him out of the darkness. Arya. She vaults off a pile of dead wights, leaps at the Night King and she plunges the dagger through the Night King's armor. The Night King shatters."

Knowing that she jumped off a "pile of dead wights," as pointed out in the script, does make her initial leap much more believable. Some fans might argue about not seeing these wights but it doesn't matter since the moment was awesome and is one of the few things fans actually like from this season.

Enjoy the few good things guys, especially in a season like this.

Game of Thrones can be streamed on HBO Go.
