Game of Thrones Finale Had Fake Scenes Filmed With Surprise Returning Characters

The Game of Thrones finale might have been controversial - let's be honest, the final season, in general, was pretty controversial - but fans still don't hate their overall journey with the show. It might not have ended well but no other fantasy show has this kind of production values or great effects, so even if the writing ended up being lackluster, no one regrets being passionate about this show.

In the tradition of making sure no one knows how this season ends, some fake scenes were filmed so that anyone watching this was confused. Thanks to Game of Thrones: The Last Watch, we now know that Jaqen H'ghar, The Waif, and The Night King all returned during production to throw fans off about what would happen in the finale.

H'ghar and The Waif trained Arya, essentially helping her become the killer/assassin that ended up killing The Night King. Some fans had speculated that H'ghar and The Waif were going to kill or try to kill, Arya during the final season. As for The Night King, his appearance was a big old shocker to the cast and crew since his death was pretty definitive, though maybe they expected the writers to pull something up their butts to bring him back.

They sure did that for the actual finale…

Fans can still watch Game of Thrones on HBO Go. HBO will probably air reruns in the near future.
