Game of Thrones Prequel Has Already Wrapped Up Filming

HBO's upcoming Game of Thrones prequel has some fans excited, though they're probably hoping that David Benioff and D.B. Weiss aren't involved. While the main story is over, there are a lot of backstories that can be shown and turned into something worth watching, which should have a lot of people's attention. Only time will tell if this will become a runaway success or just another cash-grab for HBO.

Well, during the Television Critics Association (via Deadline), it was revealed that the prequel's filming had already wrapped. That's nuts and there are even reports claiming that the pilot is already in the middle of being edited, which should get people excited. George R.R. Martin reportedly co-wrote the pilot, which makes sense since he would have to be pretty involved for a new show based on the books he wrote.

Also George, where are those other books? Geez.

Fans will have to prepare themselves for a drastically different Westeros, though there are probably going to be seeds planted. Rather than the main houses that dominated Game of Thrones, there will be a hundred or so kingdoms, which is intriguing since a lot of what we knew about Game of Thrones tended to revolve around those houses.

No release date for the Game of Thrones prequel has been announced.
