Game of Thrones, Hunger Games, Harry Potter, and Doctor Who Stars Join Together in Fangasmic Drama

Stars from geeky and epic fantasy favorites are banding together on an emotional flick titled Me Before You.

It stars Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen from HBO series Game of Thrones), Sam Claflin (Finnick Odair from the Hunger Games movie franchise), Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister from GOT), Jenna Coleman (Clara Oswald from British TV series Doctor Who), Brendan Coyle (Mr. Bates from Downtown Abbey), and Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom from the Harry Potter movie series).

The story of Me Before You is based on Jojo Moyes' novel of the same name published in 2012. The book is a heavy romantic novel, so much is expected from the movie adaptation’s lead stars Clarke and Claflin.

As seen in the trailer, Clarke and Claflin play the characters of Louisa and William, respectively. Clarke looks perfect for the role of the jolly and carefree Louisa, who had been hired to become the caregiver of a grumpy and pessimistic man named William. Played by Claflin, William has become permanently disabled following an accident. As Louisa comes into his life, he falls in love and so does Louisa.

My first thought seeing the trailer is that it’s pretty generic for a romance flick. It chronologically featured the progress of the love story of the two characters, complete with sappy and emotional footage and the voice of Ed Sheeran singing Photograph in the background. However, it looks like Claflin and Clarke have built some really good chemistry for their new roles.

I’ve watched my fair share of romantic movies. Because this film is based on a high-rated novel and because it features several of my favorite actors in the realm of fantasy, I’m setting my bar high on this one. I just hope this isn’t Khal Drogo all over again.

Me Before You is slated for release on June 3.
